Certified Commercial Investment Member - Coursework and Designation

 

Who is it for?

The CCIM designation is available for a variety of players in the commercial investment realm. Current designees include:

CCIM offers a variety of standalone courses as well as a commercial investment designation program, allowing you to build your expertise over time or pursue a dedicated course of study. CCIM designees include investors and the professional service providers who work with them, allowing you to network as you learn.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on a number of factors, including whether you choose an instructed classroom experience or an online, self-paced one. In addition, there is a significant discount for members. Prices also vary depending on whether you are taking a few a la carte classes or are pursuing your full designation. 

In order to obtain the full designation, you will eventually have to join as a member, so you may as well join up front in order to receive the member discount for coursework. The current cost for an annual membership is $650.

What else should I know?

CCIM offers some scholarships to help offset the cost of education. In addition, they offer a number of reasonably priced classes through their Ward Center for Real Estate Studies.

 

Real estate finance and development

Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) - Certificate programs 

 

Who is it for?

If you’re interested in real estate finance or development, these courses are for you. Whether you are an NAIOP member or not, you can still apply for this certificate program.

What makes it unique?

Whether you are interested in working primarily as a developer or private financier or want to hone your skills at analyzing properties, markets, and investment opportunities, these courses offer the focuses you are looking for.

Prices vary depending on membership and student status.

What else should I know?

If you decide to pursue an undergraduate or graduate program at a university, you can receive educational credits for coursework through NAIOP. Check with your current school in order to find out what credit, if any, you might be able to transfer from these certificate programs.

 

University Extension Courses

Many universities offer extension courses and programs focused on various aspects of real estate finance and investment. Prerequisites vary, but many of these courses are open to anyone.
